John Hunter Hospital, Product Testing
Project Summary:
Scope:
An ergonomics study was undertaken at John Hunter Hospital, that in part, looked at the Privacy/Cubicle tracking installation position and ongoing changing of curtains, the EZRcurtainchange system was selected as a “best practice product”
The EZRcurtainchange system was in its design infancy when contact was made by NSW Healthshare a division of NSW Health, responsible for maintaining amongst many items the Curtain supply and changing on a day to day basis at NSW Hospitals.
An installation of Tracks in two positions, Ceiling mount and Suspended was requested for testing, the EZRcurtainchange product, predominantly made up of 3D copies as production had not commenced and this testing was considered to possibly be a great source of information and possible identification of product shortfall in its appraisal.
A quick product method of operation run through was completed and it was then left to 35 Facility managers to scrutinise the EZR product, without EZRcurtainchange staff to assist with any operation information, no sales pitch, no smoothing over rough edges, just a warts an all scrutiny.
Pleased to report the product was seen as a “Best Practices” product which NSW Healthshare would be pleased to use .
Another positive to evolve from the scrutiny was the suggestion, could the EZR Change Arm have a similar removal & replacement action to the EZR insert.
This was taken back to the design team and implemented in the current design .
EZRcurtainchange is continually addressing design improvements as you can see form the image below, the progress of the removable insert over a three year period
